WASHINGTON — Vice President JD Vance and second lady Usha Vance announced Tuesday that they are expecting their fourth child, a son due in late July. The couple shared the news in a social media post , saying both mother and baby are doing well. The child will join their three other children — Ewan, Viv ek and Mirabel. Minnesota Embraces Bowl Tradition Ahead of Rate Bowl vs. New Mexico

As many college football players opt out of bowl games due to injuries, transfers, or coaching changes, Minnesota continues to treat postseason play as a priority. The Golden Gophers enter Friday’s Rate Bowl against New Mexico riding an eight-game bowl winning streak, the longest active run in the FBS, the longest ever by a Big Ten team, and the fourth-longest in college football history.

Head coach P.J. Fleck, now 6–0 in bowl games during his ninth season, credits the program’s culture and respect for the game. Fleck says his players value the opportunity to compete, even when a national title is no longer in reach.

While the expanded 12-team College Football Playoff and transfer portal activity have reduced the significance of many bowl games, Minnesota continues to embrace the experience. Linebacker Maverick Baranowski said the bowls provide extra time together, travel opportunities, and a chance to celebrate the season.

The Gophers (7–5) aim to extend their historic streak when they face New Mexico, reinforcing their reputation as one of college football’s most consistent bowl performers.
