Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha Vance say they are expecting their fourth child
Michigan has hired longtime Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham as its next football coach, replacing Sherrone Moore in Ann Arbor. The 66-year-old brings more than three decades of coaching experience, including 21 seasons as Utah’s head coach, where he compiled a 177–88 record and led the Utes to eight 10-win seasons.
Whittingham, a California native with limited ties to the Midwest, was the second-longest tenured head coach in the FBS behind Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz. Earlier this month, he announced plans to step down from Utah following the Utes’ Dec. 31 bowl game against Nebraska, making his move to Michigan an unexpected but high-profile transition.
National reaction has focused on Michigan opting for stability and experience, valuing Whittingham’s reputation for building tough, disciplined programs and sustained success. Analysts note that while his age and regional background raise questions about long-term recruiting dynamics, his track record of winning and program leadership make him a proven, low-risk choice for a Wolverines team seeking continuity and credibility at the national level.
