The couple shared the news in a social media post , saying both mother and baby are doing well. The child will join their three other children — Ewan, Viv ek and Mirabel. In their announcement, the Vances expressed gratitude to military doctors and staff who care for their family while they serve in public office. The news comes as Vance, 41, has long advocated for higher U.S. birth rates, a theme he has emphasized since launching his political career and continuing into his tenure as vice president. Scott Adams , the creator of the long-running comic strip * Dilbert *, has died at age 68 following a battle with metastatic prostate cancer. His death was announced Tuesday morning by his former wife, Shelly Miles, during a livestream on X, where she read a statement Adams had prepared earlier this year. According to Miles, Adams passed away at his home in Pleasanton , California, while receiving hospice care. In his farewell message, dated Jan. 1, Adams reflected on his life and work, saying he had lived an “amazing life” and urging fans to “pay it forward” if they benefited from his work. He concluded the message by asking people to “be useful” and expressing his love to supporters until the end.

Snow and strong winds forecast for region

   There are warnings for heavy snow and strong winds across the south of England due to Storm Goretti. The Met Office issued a yellow warning for snow in some areas, meaning delays and disruption are expected, with up to 25cm (10in) predicted in hillier regions. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) also said the south west region, which includes Dorset, would be under an amber alert until Sunday. The wintry conditions are driven by Goretti, which has been named as the first storm of the year by French forecasters. The Met Office said the most likely scenario was for low pressure to track near the south coast. "Near and south of the low, heavy rain and strong winds are more likely, whilst snow could accumulate to the north as it encounters cold air," it said. But it also said there was some uncertainty over the exact track of the storm. Winds are expected to ease early on Friday.

  Thousands of people on Wednesday evening filled Portland Avenue near 34th Street in south Minneapolis, where just hours earlier an ICE officer shot and killed 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good in her car.    Candles, flowers and whistles filled the patch of snow where Good’s car crashed after she was shot.  Good’s death has already become a rallying cry for the people working to disrupt President Donald Trump’s mass deportation campaign, which entails heavily armed, masked federal officers roaming the streets of select cities, including Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Chicago,   New Orleans and Memphis, Tennessee. “ No Trump, no troops, Twin Cities ain’t licking boots,” the crowd chanted. Several speakers called for the prosecution of the agent who shot Good. Carly Morford, of northeast Minneapolis, said she was moved to come to the vigil after seeing a video of the killing and was appalled the Trump administration labeled Good a “domestic terrorist.” ...

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro was taken into U.S. custody Saturday evening after being captured by American forces in Caracas and transported to the United States , according to U.S. media reports. Maduro arrived at a National Guard facility in New York state aboard a U.S. government aircraft, where FBI agents escorted him on the tarmac. He was then flown by helicopter to Manhattan, where a heavy law enforcement presence was in place. The 63-year-old leader was expected to be transferred first to the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York offices and later to the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, the same federal jail that previously held music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs during his trial. U.S. authorities said Maduro and his wife face charges including narco-terrorism, large-scale cocaine trafficking into the United States, and possession of illegal weapons. An arraignment date has not yet been announced.
